Handy computer hint

If you get one of those prompts to download software upgrades, do not become excited, press "ok" and then get impatient while it is doing so and switch off the computer in frustration.

The computer does not like this.

By the way, the raft race was a disappointment, at least in terms of the turn-out. The fact that it was a stinking hot day and there is virtually no shade along the riverbank didn't help matters.

Still, fun was had.

The bonus of the day was discovering a place to swim. In almost a year of living here, not once have I seen anyone enter the river. I figured it might be a bit polluted, or be hiding a dangerously strong current, but it turns out we've just never walked far enough west:
